The typeface Bearna evolved from an idea for a stencil. In the Irish Language the word bearna means gap. A display typeface Bearna was designed as an exploration of some typographic ideas.

The proverbs and colours chosen for use in these pieces are seasonal. This combination of my typeface Bearna, colours and proverbs brings you a unique wall piece.

The first four pieces represent the four seasons; Autumn, Summer, Spring and Winter.

Vistors to Ireland often comment on the similarity between the Irish Seasons. Our ancestors used to define the year with only two seasons, The year beginning with Winter (Geimhradh) at Samhain followed by Summer (Samhradh) from the feast of Bealtaine
